I do a fair mix of work across what is generally called corporate and commercial law. This is largely the result of my experience from spending many years as an in-house lawyer with various fintech companies, and also because I enjoy helping developing business with the various legal issues they face.
In 2001 I was one of the very early employees of Worldpay, and have worked for a number of technology and financial services businesses since, from the very large to the very small.

My in-house experience has taught me that lawyers shouldn’t be the people who say “no” (other than in exceptional cases), but the people who say “ok, but how about we do it this way?” And it’s taught me that you can give the best advice when you understand the nature and the aims of the business you are working for.
My specialist legal subject would have to be payment services regulation (someone has to do it), covering electronic money, payment institutions, card schemes and crypto, which I have worked in for 25 years, but I enjoy all aspects of how law can help make businesses tick and succeed.
