Phil Thompson
I’m a Partner and a commercial lawyer with a particular focus on advising clients on technology contracts and the regulatory aspects of implementing technology solutions, including in relation to the protection of personal data and outsourcing in a regulated environment.
A lot of our work involves advising on projects which are critical to the growth of a client’s business, and which therefore involve long-term commitments. I’m always conscious of the fact that the overarching commercial relationship will continue long after the contractual negotiation has completed. In my view, it is important that the legal negotiations are conducted in a manner that mirrors and supports the collaborative commercial partnership that our clients are establishing with their customers or suppliers.
I’m a member of the International Bar Association, the International Technology Law Association and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. A large proportion of my work at White & Black involves multiple jurisdictions and I’m one of the Partners here responsible for maintaining our network of friends in law firms in other jurisdictions across the globe.
I have over 20 years’ experience of advising clients on how to add value to their business through the implementation and use of technology solutions and have been a partner at White & Black since 2007. I’m ranked as a “Leading Individual” in the Legal 500 and a “Band 1 Ranked Individual” in Chambers & Partners.
