The White & Black raised money for Maggie’s Oxford by running, cycling and walking non-stop for 12 hours, keeping the machines going from 10am-10pm.
2024 marked 10 years of Maggie’s Oxford Centre. Based in the grounds of the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, Maggie’s provides free, walk-in services to cancer patients and their families and friends. There is no appointment required, and patients can access services and facilities between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Many of Maggie’s cancer support specialists are NHS-trained and all have expert knowledge about cancer and treatment. Patients can talk with benefits advisors and psychologists, attend sessions and workshops discussing topics ranging from managing fatigue to living with uncertainty.
With several Olympians showing their support, the day was a brilliant, family atmosphere with the team and their friends all contributing to help go non-stop.
12 hours passed much quicker with supplies from Sports in Science with supplements for our ‘athletes’, Jude’s Ice Cream providing over 50 ice-creams, Tenzing drinks keeping us hydrated, Nakd Bars keeping us well fed and Jealous Sweets keeping those with a sweet tooth happy.
A huge appreciation also to Buzz Gym Oxford who supplied all of the equipment we needed for our challenge, completely free of charge, and wheeled rowing and bike machines 15 minutes through the centre of Oxford! We couldn’t have done it without this amazing support.
We look forward to our next challenge taking place in summer 2025, all in aid of Maggie’s Oxford!
